Amazon Ramps Up Delivery Business With Rivian Electric Vehicles To Reach Climate Goals

As Amazon (AMZN) continues the expansion of its delivery fleet, the online retailer has revealed its electric delivery van developed in partnership with Rivian.

The all-electric vans have begun to arrive just a year after Amazon made a commitment to be net-zero carbon by 2040. The company has plans to take delivery of 100,000 electric vans from Rivian by 2030, with 10,000 expected to be on the roads by 2022.

The Rivian vans were developed to “enhance the driver experience and optimize safety” with a customized configuration that comes in three different models. The vans feature sensor detection, highway and traffic assist features, larger windshield, exterior cameras with digital display, Alexa integration, stronger door design, interior “dancefloor” for added space, multiple tail lights, and three levels of shelving to store packages.

The seasonal job market is expected to look different in this year of the coronavirus, as even more holiday shoppers make their purchases online and unemployment remains high.

Home delivery of SIA first and business class meals offers a taste of the luxe life, Food News & Top Stories

SINGAPORE – The orders started rolling in just after midnight, when SIA @ Home went live. And 12 hours later, at 2pm on Monday (Oct 5), Singapore Airlines had received 57 orders for its first- and business-class meals, to be delivered to homes here.

More than half – 56 per cent to be precise – of the orders were for the first-class meals, and of all the orders, 72 per cent were for more than just the food. These customers also opted for extras such as china and glasses.

Within 30 minutes of the service going live at midnight on Oct 5, the airline had received 10 orders, said Ms Betty Wong, the airline’s divisional vice-president for in-flight services and design.

Mastercard, Instacart Team On Delivery Benefits

Shoppers who use a U.S.-issued Mastercard to pay for groceries delivered by Instacart are being offered a way to save money, the New York-based global financial services corporation said in an announcement.

Starting Thursday (Oct. 1) through March 31, Mastercard cardholders without an Instacart Express membership are eligible to receive two months free when they sign up for an annual membership for $99. A Mastercard is required as the default payment method. The feature is also available for debit, small business and prepaid card users, according to the announcement.

An Instacart Express membership provides customers with unlimited free delivery on all orders of $35 or more, as well as a reduced service fee.
