Huawei discuss strategy at ‘Connect 2020’

HUAWEI CONNECT 2020 was held from September 23 to 26 in Shanghai. HUAWEI CONNECT is an annual flagship event hosted by Huawei for the global ICT industry. It is a platform where Huawei discloses its major strategies.

In 2016, Huawei envisioned an intelligent world and called upon its partners worldwide to build a diverse and thriving Costa Rica-like ecosystem together. In 2017, Huawei announced its goal of becoming one of the world’s five major cloud service providers. In 2018, Huawei revealed its AI strategy, and then in 2019 its computing strategy.

In 2020, as 5G has been rolled out at scale worldwide, connectivity, cloud, AI, computing, and industrial applications have all come together to create unprecedented opportunities for the ICT sector. Therefore, the focus of this year’s HUAWEI CONNECT is: Creating new value with synergy across five tech domains.

Austin Startup Week hopes to connect community as it goes virtual its tenth year – Business – Austin American-Statesman

Austin entrepreneur Jacqueline Hughes has made more than 100 calls this week alone, as she prepares for one of the biggest events of the year for Austin’s entrepreneurial community.

But if all goes as planned, Hughes will be able to catch dozens of speakers, panels, and pitches and attend a virtual startup crawl — all from the comfort of home next week for the annual Austin Startup Week.

Hughes co-founded the event with Joshua Baer, who runs Austin-based accelerator Capital Factory, in 2011, as a way to bring together the startup community. For a decade, Austin Startup Week has been a can’t-miss for Austin entrepreneurs and emerging businesses to meet yearly, pitch business plans, network, and mingle.

Small business and ecommerce entrepreneurs on the Falkland Islands are set to be able to take digital payments following an agreement between Square, Mastercard and the Falkland Islands Government.

 

The Falkland Islands lie 8,000 miles from London in a remote and beautiful location where penguins outnumber people by more than 100:1. To date, many of the Islands’ businesses have been cash-only. Banking and compliance issues made it difficult, and sometimes impossible for small businesses to sign up for merchant accounts to accept cards – and to get those funds settled into their bank account.

 

On top of that, card payment machines were difficult to install and maintain in such a remote location.
