Need to rent a big electric truck for moving or business? More options are coming soon

If you’ve got a big move coming up, you may soon able to do it with minimal carbon emissions.

Truck-rental service Fluid Truck is adding 600 electric cargo vans and trucks to its sharing platform, with availability starting in the fourth quarter of this year, the company announced in a press release Thursday.

The vehicles will be electric conversions from Lightning Systems. The roster includes electric versions of the Ford Transit 350HD delivery van, Ford E-450 Class 4 truck, and Hino 268 Class 6 truck. They will be deployed in “major urban areas” across the United States, said Fluid Truck, which rents vehicles through a mobile app and website.

The rentals should make electric vans more widely available for occasional use by small business owners, or perhaps those who just need a mammoth van for one urban task.

Considering that much of their duty cycle involves stop-and-go urban traffic, delivery

A $100 billion Big Oil divestiture plan is coming

The Johan Sverdrup oil field in the North Sea, operated by Equinor, is the third-largest oil field on the Norwegian continental shelf, with 2.7 billion barrels of oil equivalent. Equinor is planning to cut the carbon-intensity of energy products it sells by at least 50% as part of the energy transition related to climate change.

Energy transition has climbed towards the top of the agenda in the boardrooms of the world’s largest oil and gas companies. With electrification and renewable energy on the rise, Big Oil is striving to adapt to a transformation that could eventually render their business obsolete if they don’t latch on to the opportunities it brings. The result could be a massive sell-off of assets as the biggest petroleum players concentrate their oil and gas production to the countries where oil and gas is cheapest and easiest to produce.

Central Mass. banks preparing for the coming storm

The coronavirus pandemic and the economic pain it is causing has brought a flood of new deposits to banks in Central Massachusetts and nationally.

The trend hasn’t been entirely good.

“Everyone can see the storm clouds on the horizon, and we just keep waiting for them to come,” said Todd Tallman, president of Cornerstone Bank in Southbridge.

Banks have seen net incomes drop precipitously and are setting aside far greater amounts of expected potential losses in loans and leases, according to a Worcester Business Journal review of Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. data.

Across the 15 largest locally-based banks by deposits, the first half of 2020 saw deposits soar by 18%, or more than $2.5 billion, compared to a year earlier.

“Banks on the whole are flush with deposits,” said Brian McEvoy, a senior vice president at Webster Five Cents Savings Bank, who leads its retail banking division. “Growth year-to-year is

Cubs clinch NL Central; Brewers, Cardinals and Reds coming down to last day of MLB regular season

A Kris Bryant grand slam in the top of the third Saturday night put the Cubs up, 5-2, and it looked like they might be able to take care of business on their own. Instead, the White Sox stormed back with a funky bottom of the fourth — highlighted by Jose Abreu’s clutch, bases-clearing double — and went on to victory over their cross-town rivals.

Still, the Cubs’ magic number was one and the Cardinals loss at home to the Brewers did the trick. The Cubs are the 2020 NL Central champions. It’s their sixth Central title and third in the last five seasons.

There wasn’t a ton of drama here after the Cubs won and the Cardinals lost (one of their two games) on Friday. The question was more when than if after that. The real drama in the NL Central heads into the (maybe!) last day of

Yes, a Market Crash Is Coming — And Yes, I Bought This Cheap Stock Anyway

I’m not going to bury the lede on this one, folks: The S&P 500 is expensive.

At a recent valuation of nearly 29 times trailing earnings, the stock market as a whole has only been as expensive as it is today a handful of times in the past 150 years. On average, if you buy a share of stock today, it will take you nearly three decades for that stock to earn enough money to pay back your investment. And historically speaking, when stock markets get as expensive as this one currently is, they’re bound to crash sooner or later.

But so what? Just because most stocks are expensive doesn’t mean all of them are. And in fact, despite how expensive the S&P is on the whole, I’ve found one stock that’s cheap enough that I think it’s worth a gamble: Costamare (NYSE:CMRE).
