Should I co-sign a credit card to repair my son’s awful Credit?

Dear Penny,

My son has bad credit because he fell behind on bills after losing his job. He had two accounts closed but paid off the balances. Now he can’t get accepted for any sort of credit.

He’s 26 now and is working again while living at home with me. But since he doesn’t have credit, I’m worried that he’ll never be able to get established on his own.

I’m thinking of offering to co-sign a credit card for him so that he can rebuild his credit. What do you think, Penny? Is this a good idea?

Editorial: Closing Parris Island is an awful idea, and not just because it’s in SC | Editorials

Americans can be pretty stubborn, and as a result even the best plans too often fail, because leaders — be they in government, business, the nonprofit sector or even in our social circles or families — can’t get enough buy-in from followers. Even the idea of being a “follower” is repugnant to many Americans.

So if the commandant of the Marine Corps decides that his subordinates are going to do something, you can bet they’ll do it. That includes complying with the congressional mandate to start training male and female recruits together at its Parris Island and San Diego training depots.

Biden’s latest small business outreach is just … awful

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden is facing off against a candidate that even his supporters agree can oftentimes be irrational, unpredictable, vulgar and unprofessional. But his opponent – President Trump – is also heavily favored by the great majority of small business owners I know and work with. Why?

It’s because Trump’s policies are simply more business friendly. He’s anti-regulation, anti-environmental and anti-labor. Sure, he favors big businesses, but then again it’s the big businesses that provide so much livelihood for small businesses, not to mention that their employees spend their wages at pizza shops, restaurants and their local dry cleaners. Trump wants less government oversight (to wit, his opposition to ObamaCare) and lower taxes. As such and under his administration, the U.S. economy – up until COVID-19 –
