As we enter the fourth quarter of 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic has continued to shift the way travel brands and credit card companies stay relevant to consumers. Since many travelers are not able to use some of their more familiar miles, points or credit card benefits as they had hoped, creative alternatives are a welcome sight. Today, American Express announced a slate of new offers and points bonuses for certain cardholders.
A recent American Express survey said that eight in ten people are starting to plan for future travel, and a slightly higher percentage are eager to re-engage with their preferred travel brand to help them do that. Just over half of the survey participants were especially interested in the health protocols that companies are taking to make their journey safe.

Discounted airfare for Platinum Card Members
On select domestic routes, American Express is offering discounted airfare for travelers that book selected routes through its online portal. The routes vary by airline with savings that can be as much as 22 percent off the base airfare. The discount is valid on flights reserved before the end of the year and taken between now and March 31, 2021. These fares are available to eligible U.S. consumer and business Platinum Card and Centurion members, but Delta SkyMiles Platinum Card Members are excluded from the deal.
American Express confirms these fares are directly from the airlines and are not bulk fares. This means they are eligible for elite status upgrades and perks, too.
