Creative Coast: Local entrepreneurs to pitch ideas at upcoming competition – Business – Savannah Morning News

Last week, we celebrated our local female entrepreneurs. Today, I’d like to celebrate our newest entrepreneurs.

Got an idea for a business that is keeping you up at night? Want to live the glamorous life of an entrepreneur? That’s a joke by the way …

The Creative Coast is a proud sponsor and partner of the SCORE “BizPitch SavannahTM” Entrepreneurial Competition, an annual event that allows local aspiring entrepreneurs and owners of newly launched small businesses in the area to pitch their startup ideas for a chance to win more than $10,000 in cash and free professional services to help them launch and grow their new businesses.

All types of new businesses are encouraged to apply.

To participate, interested parties must apply before midnight Friday and submit a non-refundable $25 application fee. Applications will be reviewed by a committee and an announcement will be made Oct. 14 regarding the top eight applicants who will be named finalists.

On Friday, Nov. 6, the eight finalists will present a four-minute pitch of their endeavors to a panel of expert judges. After a brief question-and-answer session with each contestant, the judges will select the top three pitches. These three “BizPitch Savannah” winners will each receive more than $10,000 in cash and free professional services. That’s right … each winner will receive more than $10,000 in cash and free professional services. That’s huge.

This year, The Creative Coast will host the event in our offices on Johnson Square. Because of COVID-19, the event will be livestreamed to the audience, but the actual judges and finalists will be participating in person, albeit socially distanced, in The Creative Coast facilities. We feel this will make it more interesting than the usual Zoom event.

All eight pitch contestants will receive professional pitch training and a practice session prior to the event Nov. 6. Additionally, the eight participants will all be assigned a SCORE mentor to help assist them with the preparation.
