These include floating an expression of interest inviting global manufacturing companies to leverage on BHEL facilities and capabilities to set up a manufacturing base in India and take up efforts towards indigenisation of major imports, especially in the capital goods sector. Going further in this direction, the company has set up a new business vertical ‘Make in India (MII) Business Development Group’ to bring complete focus on these activities.
LIC enters into 65th year of operations
Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has entered into 65th year of its operations on September 1. In its 64 years of existence, LIC has spread its wings from being the leading life insurance company into an internationally recognised financial conglomerate with the presence in 14 countries. L&T completes divestment of electrical biz to Schneider
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has announced the closure of the strategic divestment of its electrical and automation business to Schneider Electric, a global player in energy management and automation. The significant and complex divestment deal, one of its kind in India announced in May 2018, has been completed after receiving the requisite regulatory approvals and fulfilment of necessary conditions. The divestment is in line with L&T’s stated goal of unlocking value for future growth.
Alchemist Hospital, Panchkula, performs rare surgery
Alchemist Hospital, Panchkula, recently performed a rare surgery on a 47-year-old woman with a huge abdominopelvic mass. The surgery was performed by Dr Ibha Kumari, senior consultant, gynaecology and obstetrics. Patient Karuna Sharma was admitted to the hospital with a complaint of pain in abdomen with abdominal mass. On examination, an abdominopelvic mass of 34 weeks size was detected. The USG and CT scan revealed a large heterogeneous mass measuring 29x22x19 cm with a possibility of right ovarian mass or broad ligament fibroid.
Nod to Intas for trial of hyperimmune globulin
The R&D team of Intas Pharmaceuticals has developed hyperimmune globulin for patients suffering from moderate to severe Covid infection. Hyperimmune globulin also has a potential for use as prophylaxis for all high-risk population in contact with Covid patients. This could be an important therapeutic option that can potentially help combat the disease until a vaccine is available. The company has received permission from the Drug Controller General of India to conduct clinical trial for it.
Tetra Pak ties up with Green Recycling Links
Tetra Pak has tied up with Green Recycling Links to accelerate collection of used beverage cartons in Himachal Pradesh. This partnership will cover Shimla, Solan and Baddi where the consumption of beverage cartons is the highest in the state. In addition, Tetra Pak already has a collection centre at Rampur. To increase the collection, the company will motivate waste-pickers and collection partners who are integral to the process.

Sonalika Tractors records 80% growth in August
Sonalika Tractors has registered a 80% growth in August by selling 8,205 units as compared to 4,560 units in the domestic market last year. It has surpassed an estimated industry growth of 73%. Overall sales (domestic + exports) stood at 10,206 units in August as compared to 6,412 units in same period last year.
PSPCL unveils ‘Kifayati LED Bulb Yojana’ worth Rs8.63 cr
Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has launched an initiative worth Rs 8.63 crore aimed at providing viable power solutions to people hailing from the below poverty line (BPL), SC and BC backgrounds. PSPCL CMD A Venu Prasad said in accordance with the ‘Kifayati LED Bulb Yojana’, each eligible consumer from BPL, SC and BC categories, availing electricity subsidy having sanctioned load up to 1 KW, would be provided with two LED bulbs at just Rs 30.
