Pakistan Unveils New ‘Friendly’ Visa Policy for Afghanistan | Voice of America

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan introduced Tuesday a new visa policy for Afghanistan to facilitate business and people-to-people contacts between the two countries.

Officials said the travel document, approved by the federal cabinet, will make it easy for Afghan citizens to acquire multiple entry visit visas, including those for long-term business, as well as investment and student visas.

Until now, Islamabad was issuing only one-time entry visas to Afghan visitors.

Pakistan’s special envoy for Afghanistan, Mohammad Sadiq, noted in a tweet that a “new category of health visa” also has been enacted to enable Afghan patients to receive visas on arrival at the overland border.

Sadiq said all border terminals with Afghanistan, located in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border province, have been opened to pedestrian traffic four days a week, beginning Tuesday.

Landlocked Afghanistan has for decades relied mostly on Pakistani overland routes and seaports for bilateral as well as international trade. Mutual

Muskegon business leaders voice support for city manager amid gift card controversy

MUSKEGON, MI – Nearly 50 business leaders in Muskegon have called upon the city commission to end “unproductive nitpicking and bickering,” some of which they say has been directed at staff who have been embroiled in a coronavirus gift card controversy.

The statement, read at the end of the city commission’s meeting earlier this week, praises Muskegon City Manager Frank Peterson and his staff for moving the city forward “in ways that we have not seen in this community for the previous two or more decades.”

The statement, which was signed and read by Jeff Musselman, was co-signed by 48 other private sector leaders. Musselman described the group as a “large coalition…growing concerned about what we see as unnecessary and unproductive nitpicking and bickering among the city commission.”

That behavior, aimed at one another and at staff, could “hinder” the city’s progress “if it is not recognized for what it

Proposed US Visa Changes Explained | Voice of America

WASHINGTON – The Trump administration has proposed to eliminate “duration of status” on visas for international students, exchange visitors, and those working in international media. Officials are hoping to impose fixed end dates rather than allowing visas to be valid for as long as it takes them to get their degree or finish a research project.

Currently, a holder of an F-1 visa can stay in the country until the student finishes a studies program or if the student keeps on meeting program requirements.

The 256-page proposed rule released on Thursday by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), would mandate 4-year expiration dates and afford two years to those taking language training, with limited ability to apply for an extension.

How is “duration of status” currently defined?

“Duration of status” means that instead of a fixed time limit, an international student is allowed to remain in the United States

Translating the voice of your customer (VoC) into business intelligence

With customer service and support, figuring out why something happens can be just as important as figuring out what happened. In fact, sometimes the “why” is even more revealing than the “what.”

When an organization is getting low scores for brand loyalty, receiving negative feedback from customers or even experiencing high turnover among customer support agents, it can be challenging to determine the underlying cause. Even using data analytics can sometimes lead to a dead end.

Using voice of the customer (VoC) analytics, however, can shed light on the hidden motivations behind customer or employee behavior. Understanding how to use speech analytics and VoC to uncover these behaviors and modify business practices for better results isn’t difficult, but many organizations simply don’t know where to start.

Here are a few real-life examples that highlight common struggles contact-center leaders face, as well as suggested ways to use VoC insights gathered through

Firms Voice Increased Hiring Projections for MBA Graduates in 2021

Data points to recruiters keeping headcount stable in 2020 as employers exhibit caution in maintaining talent amidst downturn

RESTON, Va., Sept. 21, 2020. As this year’s report was nearing conclusion in March, COVID-19 was unfolding. Given the disruption caused by the global pandemic, GMAC initiated additional data collection to expand those results to provide more relevant insights about the economic impacts of COVID-19 across hiring and salary trends. Additionally, deeper perspective was gained on the skills that employers are looking for as organizations continue to grapple with the economic downturn.

In this year’s report, employers expressed optimism for the future which is noteworthy given the uncertainty and economic retraction that has gripped the global economy since March. Before COVID-19, 92 percent of firms expressed intent to hire MBA graduates in 2020, a figure that dipped to 77 percent during sampling amid COVID-19. However, when asked about hiring plans for 2021

Another Voice: Government must offer a small business recovery plan | Opinion

When Covid-19 hit, Goodrich Coffee & Tea was forced to close our cafe’s doors and we turned to a model that relied solely on drive-thru and delivery sales. Initially, this shift cut our sales by 50% – a critical cut to the profit we needed to keep running.

Times remain tough, but we are thankful to still have our doors open today, and we credit this to members of the Clarence community who have shown up, in their cars and online, to support us through these times.

We tapped into digital resources, specifically social media, which helped promote our business. And our cafe began using the “Support Small Business” stickers on Instagram to encourage our customers to keep supporting local restaurants, shops and businesses.

We are inspired by the ways the Clarence community has shown up for others throughout the pandemic. Truly it is why we are still standing today.
