Developing Credit Union Business in the Age of COVID

Business development has never been easy, and when the pandemic hit, it became even more challenging. But credit unions have adapted by spotting new consumer trends and finding creative ways to keep their business development pipelines open. What’s more, because members are flocking to digital banking, credit unions have been leveraging technology solutions to grow their business development opportunities.

Brown

Ted Brown, cofounder of Digital Onboarding Inc. in Boston, said credit unions are essentially sitting on a business development gold mine among their current members, but are not necessarily equipped in the digital age to tap into it. He noted when branch lobbies were closed at the onset of the pandemic, everyone began moving to digital banking, and now that trend seems to be in hyper drive.

“We provide that platform to digitally engage members, providing good recommendations to those members about products and services that the credit

Why Master Builders walked out on big business, big union stitch-up

Before the working groups started meeting, in a sign of good faith, Master Builders did not oppose the government’s decision to no longer pursue the Ensuring Integrity Bill, despite it being a key priority of our members.

This bill would have provided a further mechanism to stop bullying by law-breaking construction unions on building sites around the country. These tactics are deployed by building unions to force workplaces into adopting union pattern enterprise bargaining agreements that reduce productivity, increase construction costs and embed the toxic culture of militant unions.

Giving militant unions yet another lever to double down on the daily practices deployed against our members is a step too far.

It is small businesses that bear the brunt of construction union bullying, which is why the government fought so hard to bring back the Australian Building and Construction Commission. It is this bullying that the ACTU secretary has defended.

Joe Biden works his union base from central Pennsylvania on Labor Day; here’s why that matters

HARRISBURG – Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden spent most of his Labor Day in southcentral Pennsylvania Monday, holding a backyard chat with local labor leaders in Lancaster, and later headlining a Facebook Live event targeted at AFL-CIO members nationally from downtown Harrisburg.

In keeping with a pandemic-limited campaign, these were low-wattage events that did not grab a lot of attention from the general public. At 5 p.m., a crowd estimated at about 50 Biden supporters waited outside the state AFL-CIO state headquarters on North 2nd Street, hoping for a glimpse of Biden as he left.

Biden waved to them from an upper-story window before departing the union offices. It was the closest thing to mixing with the public that the campaign had scheduled for a holiday weekend when candidates traditionally like to touch as many voters as they can.

Inside the offices, however, Biden also met one-on-one with a who’s
