Scottsdale Notre Dame Prep scored early and never looked back to kick off their season with a 28-10 win over Brophy Prep. This was the first football game the schools have ever played against each other, and it set the tone for what should be a competitive rivalry for years to come.
The Saints, led by senior quarterback Tyler Schweigert, scored a touchdown in each quarter while their strong defense held the Broncos at bay.
Brophy star quarterback E.J. Warner, son of Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner, left the game near the end of the first quarter with an apparent right leg injury. The junior did not return to the game. He was replaced by junior Landon Wagner, who scored the Broncos’ only touchdown on a four-yard pass to senior Cole Orkild late in the fourth quarter.
