India’s first RRTS train with design speed of 180 kmph unveiled; to have business class

New Delhi, Sep 25 (PTI) The Centre on Friday unveiled the first look of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) train whose design is inspired by Delhi’s iconic Lotus Temple and can attain a top speed of 180 kilometres per hour on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor.

The Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry said with a radiating stainless steel outer body, the aerodynamic RRTS trains will be lightweight and fully air-conditioned.

They have been designed in such a way that natural sources of light and energy will flow into the trains, the ministry said.

Each car will have six automatic plug-in type wide doors, three on each side for ease of access and exit. The business class will have four such doors, two on each side.

Stimulus checks: President Donald Trump floats an idea that he hopes could speed up payments to Americans in need of cash

President Donald Trump floated an idea Friday that he hopes might help speed up stimulus payments to Americans in need while Republicans and Democrats continue to be at an impasse regarding a deal that would provide a second relief package for the country.

Trump’s idea?

According to the New York Post, he urged Congress Friday to approve stimulus checks “by redirecting $300 billion in unused coronavirus pandemic relief funds.”

The Post said Trump said he considered redirecting the funds himself, “but prefers for Congress to approve the idea.”

“We have $300 billion ready to go, all Congress has to do is say, ‘Use it,’” the Post reported he said at his press briefing. “I’d like to use it without their permission, but I guess I’m not allowed to.”

The report said Trump didn’t specify where that $300 billion would come from, exactly, but speculated that he was referencing unused
