90% business-class seats sold on 1st direct Kol-London flight in 11 years | Kolkata News

Kolkata: With barely two days to go, only 40% of the seats have been sold on the first direct flight to London from Kolkata in 11 years. But what’s left the airline as well as travel trade industry officials surprised is the high offtake of business class seats where the occupancy is nearly 90%. This is especially significant because two international carriers — Lufthansa and British Airways — had withdrawn flights from Kolkata, citing lack of business class passengers on the flight although the economy class clocked decent loads.
Sources in Air India said 14 out of the 16 business class seats on the Dreamliner flight that is scheduled to take off from Kolkata airport on Thursday had been sold. In contrast, only around 80-odd seats had been sold in the economy class that has a capacity of 218 passengers. The Boeing 787 has a configuration of 18 business class

For the first time in 18 years, Strata-G founder Dan Hurst has just one decision to make: finding and conserving 100 acres of land meant for Strata-G employees to enjoy.

It’s a transition for someone who, as a small-business owner, made thousands of decisions year in and year out.

Ranked as the largest veteran-owned business in East Tennessee by the Knoxville News Sentinel’s Book of Lists, Strata-G has been sold by Hurst to two longtime vice presidents.

Elliott Barnett will take on operations as CEO, and John Patterson will handle business development and growth as president.

The LAPD’s fleet of barely used BMW i3s is being sold for cheap

  • Cars from the LAPD’s fleet of barely used BMW i3s are being sold at New Century BMW in Alhambra, California.
  • The cars all have pretty low miles and are all priced between $15,000 and $18,000, a dealership rep told Business Insider.
  • The dealership sold its first shipment of 28 cars in just four days, but a new shipment is coming this month.
  • Visit Business Insider’s homepage for more stories.

In 2016, BMW won the bid to supply the Los Angeles Police Department with hundreds of all-electric BMW i3s for use in its transportation fleet. The LAPD hardly used them, their leases expired, and now the cars are being sold for dirt cheap.

Several i3s from the LAPD’s fleet were for sale at New Century BMW as Certified Pre-Owned models, as first noticed by The Current Review, an enthusiast EV blog, and then Jalopnik. A screenshot of New Century BMW’s inventory,
