Vancouver farmers markets offer online ordering and delivery

Article content continued

“An online market is super-important,” said Clements. That has become more evident during COVID-19 as restrictions and infection fears keep customers from their usual shopping routines.

So the farm school signed up with B.C. Local Root, which offers to sell and deliver goods for the dozens of vendors who normally sell their produce and products at one of six Vancouver summer markets.

Vancouver Farmers Market entered into the partnership with B.C. Local Root to give shoppers a third option to shop at the six summer and two winter markets, said Laura Smit, VFM’s interim executive director.

She said COVID-19 restrictions have cut in-person traffic to the markets by 50 per cent at some of the locations and online ordering was left up to individual vendors, who may or may not offer delivery. B.C. Local Root offers a centralized online system that would allow shoppers to choose items

The new buying experience enables a customer to buy a used vehicle online and have it delivered to the home, or the person can do part of the car-buying process online before completing the purchase in person at a store.

The Goochland County-based automotive retailer began rolling out its new car-buying service last year.

“When we set out to create the future of car buying, we knew that customers wanted personalized, convenient and on-demand retailer experiences where they can seamlessly navigate between online and in-person, all on their own terms,” Bill Nash, CarMax’s president and CEO, said in a statement.

New Billboard Campaign Petitions Business Review Platforms to Stop Allowing Negative Reviews for Third-Party Delivery Issues | News

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 23, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Digital signage and experience platform Raydiant today announced the launch of a new initiative that petitions small business review platforms to stop allowing users to leave negative reviews for issues caused by third-party delivery providers.

The COVID-19 pandemic forced companies of all sizes to adapt their operations to stay in business. Arguably, one of the businesses most affected by the pandemic were restaurants that were forced to close their in-location dining and shift to options such as delivery and curbside pickup.

As part of this shift, many restaurants began using third-party delivery providers such as UberEats, DoorDash, GrubHub, and Postmates. These delivery providers serve as a platform to connect independent delivery drivers to deliver meals to the delivery app customers.

Issues related to the delivery experience, such as order delays and poor driver communication, are outside the control of restaurants. Yet, many

Today’s Logistics Report: Planning Vaccine Delivery; Germany’s Export Cloud; Assembling Ford Trucks

Plans for distributing a Covid-19 vaccine remain a work in progress as the shots move closer to approval. State officials and medical-supply experts say critical issues weren’t resolved in the federal government’s release of two vaccine-distribution plans this week. The WSJ’s Peter Loftus and Jared S. Hopkins report the slow ramp-up for a distribution strategy could hamper efforts to get doses quickly to health-care workers and others at high risk of infection. Some states might not initially get all of the supplies they were expecting, or have the freezer capacity needed to safely store their drug allocation.

Transportation and logistics companies have been preparing for the potential sudden rush to distribute doses through temperature-controlled networks with little margin for error. The federal program through Operation Warp Speed sketches out distribution of any vaccine that regulators authorize for use, including starting shipments within 24 hours of the green light. But medical

Global Central Nervous System Diseases Drug Delivery Technologies, Markets & Companies Research Report 2020 – ResearchAndMarkets.com – Press Release

DUBLIN–(Business Wire)–The “Drug Delivery in Central Nervous System Diseases – Technologies, Markets & Companies” report from Jain PharmaBiotech has been added to ResearchAndMarkets.com’s offering.

The delivery of drugs to central nervous system (CNS) is a challenge in the treatment of neurological disorders. Drugs may be administered directly into the CNS or administered systematically (e.g., by intravenous injection) for targeted action in the CNS. The major challenge to CNS drug delivery is the blood-brain barrier (BBB), which limits the access of drugs to the brain substance.

Advances in understanding of the cell biology of the BBB have opened new avenues and possibilities for improved drug delivery to the CNS. Several carrier or transport systems, enzymes, and receptors that control the penetration of molecules have been identified in the BBB endothelium. Receptor-mediated transcytosis can transport peptides and proteins across the BBB. Methods are available to assess the BBB permeability of drugs at

Online Grocer Farmstead Launches “Grocery OS” To Help Traditional Grocers Take Delivery …

BURLINGAME, Calif., Sept. 17, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Hot on the heels of Amazon’s “delivery-only” store launch in Brooklyn, online grocer Farmstead announced today that in addition to expanding its own “Farmstead” brand nationally, it’s now making its in-house grocery delivery software Grocery OS available to other national and regional grocers, to help those grocers combat Amazon’s national threat.

Grocery OS instantly boosts the delivery capacity and profitability of any grocer-controlled pickup/delivery fulfillment operation (whether from an existing public store, new dark store or delivery-only warehouse). It also enables grocers to manage their own marketing, order picking, packing and delivery operations.

A Top 3 US grocer has already implemented Grocery OS, which helped them rapidly and inexpensively expand delivery capacity in multiple regional markets on the East Coast.

“As COVID-19 drives skyrocketing online grocery adoption, many grocers are realizing that a new way forward is required immediately,” said Pradeep

Chipotle CEO Brian Niccol on Coronavirus, Online Orders, and Delivery

Brian Niccol, chief executive officer of Chipotle Mexican Grill.

Photographer: Bobby Doherty for Bloomberg Businessweek

As the pandemic made people hesitant or unable to eat inside its restaurants, Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. saw its online orders and delivery business take off. CEO Niccol thinks much of that digital business is here to stay.

How has your business held up during the pandemic?

We’ve been very fortunate in our restaurants, where I think we’re doing a lot of the right things. We put a lot of the right food safety practices and wellness practices in place. So that’s giving people confidence to basically use Chipotle as a meal solution. And our digital business is giving people access for that off-premise occasion that has become really critical.

Are you taking precautions against a second wave of the virus?

We definitely have uncertainty in front of us.
