MUSKEGON – You have to feel for Keith Guy and Rick Ruel right about now.

For Guy, the Muskegon athletic director, it’s Mona Shores week at Hackley Stadium. For Ruel, Oakridge’s AD, it’s Montague week at Russell A. Erickson Stadium.

Normally, that means overflow crowds at those facilities for two dandy matchups. Huge crowds are a good thing, both in terms of community engagement and the bottom line.

But now, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s an entirely different ball game. Muskegon’s and Oakridge’s stadiums will be relative ghost towns as a restricted number of spectators are being allowed into high school facilities across the state.

Online retailer amasses complaints of non-delivery and misleading ads

(KVOA) – The Better Business Bureau (BBB) reported it’s experiencing an increase in complaints related to online retail purchases. It’s warning consumers to be aware of the pitfalls of shopping on unfamiliar websites.

According to the BBB, Balma Home, purportedly based in Dallas, Texas, currently has an “F” rating with BBB Serving North Central Texas due to its failure to respond to 62 complaints filed against the business and its failure to resolve 3 complaints. The BBB said customers reported that they never received retail items purchased online, from podcast microphones to exercise resistance bands.

The BBB said customers reported that when they attempted to call or email the company, the phone numbers were disconnected and the emails bounced. Why TikTok deal could mean big growth for Walmart’s ads business

Walmart confirmed over the weekend it had tentatively agreed to purchase a 7.5% stake of TikTok in the U.S., alongside Oracle’s larger 12.5% stake.

That deal could be a boon for the retailer’s tiny but growing advertising business. 

Although it’s known for its big-box stores, Walmart has an advertising business that resembles Amazon’s, albeit on a much smaller scale. On Walmart’s own website, advertisers can sponsor their products to appear prominently in search or on product detail pages. It also has a display advertising network, which lets advertisers reach Walmart customers both on the retailer’s own digital properties and off-site, whether that’s on other websites or on social channels like Instagram or Pinterest.
