Clark County Commission: McCurdy, Washington run for District D

The state’s Democratic Party chairman will face off against a former Las Vegas fire chief in November, seeking to replace Clark County Commissioner Lawrence Weekly in District D.

Assemblyman William McCurdy II is politically tested and experienced, while David Washington, an independent candidate, has a long history of grassroots activism behind him.

“At this moment in history, at this moment in time, we need a breath of fresh air,” McCurdy said during a recent interview. “We need something new and I believe that I am the candidate that is going to help usher our county into a new generation, that is going to help us dive into a new untapped potential that is waiting on us to uncover.”

McCurdy, 32, said that he saw term-limited Weekly’s departure as an opportunity to enact on a local level the progress made over his two terms in the state Assembly, including on matters

Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott’s proposal to expand the College Football Playoff to eight teams for this season was rejected by the CFP management committee, according to Heather Dinich of ESPN.

Scott would have needed the approval of Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick and 10 FBS commissioners to have the measure passed.

CFP executive director Bill Hancock told Dinich:

“They decided that doing that now would be such a significant change, and come with so many challenges, especially given the timing with the season already underway, that they concluded that the best outcome would be to make no changes in the format. They will continue to discuss the future, which is just good, responsible business practice, although I must say that dealing with COVID has become everyone’s focus now.”

Stanford head coach David Shaw expressed optimism that an expanded playoff will eventually happen:

“Whether it’s six

BIR starts crackdown on unregistered online businesses

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) starting today will go after unregistered online businesses despite the challenges posed by the lack of physical addresses and possibly even financial documents to audit.

The BIR no longer extended the Sept. 30 deadline for online-based enterprises to register as taxpayers, which had been prolonged by two more months from the original July 31 cutoff date as the taxman took into consideration the difficulty to visit their offices amid quarantine movement restrictions.

Internal Revenue Deputy Commissioner Arnel Guballa told the Inquirer that at least 7,262 web-based businesses already registered as of Wednesday morning.

With the deadline lapsed, Guballa said unregistered online businesses would now be slapped penalties similar to those imposed on tax-delinquent firms.

Guballa said the BIR was working on how revenue officers could rise above the challenges posed by the online nature of these businesses.

“How to monitor and apprehend [unregistered online

The former human resources manager of a Southington gardening and landscaping company has been charged with funneling about $75,000 from this business’ credit card into his personal bank accounts.

After a year-long investigation, 36-year-old Charles Allen was arrested last week at his home in White Plains, New York, and charged with first-degree larceny, illegal use of a credit card and receiving goods or services obtained by illegally using a credit card, Lt. Keith Egan said Wednesday.

Winterberry Gardens leaders first alerted police in September 2019 that they had discovered “financial discrepancies” connected to the business credit card issued to Allen, who had worked at the company’s head of human resources, police said.

A review of financial statements from late 2017 to mid 2019 showed $78,150 in unauthorized charges and fraudulent purchases, including fake invoices for a workplace safety training course for $3,000,

27 States With a Game Plan To Reopen the US Economy

Six months after pandemic-related shutdowns began across the United States, states now are in various phases of reopening their economies. Some still are instituting restrictions on which businesses can open their doors, and others are allowing all businesses to operate as usual. Many states fall in between, with most businesses allowed to operate — but with limits on capacity and social distancing and personal hygiene protocols in place.

State leaders are having to make difficult decisions regarding how to enable businesses to thrive while keeping lives safe. More than 6.6 million people in the United States have contracted the coronavirus, and almost 200,000 have died. Most states are exhibiting escalating community spread or the potential for community spread, according to Sept. 16 data reported by NPR. Meanwhile, the temporary business closures implemented to curb the spread of the coronavirus have led to millions of people losing their jobs, along with

Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Hulk Hogan and a WWE/WCW Dream Card | Bleacher Report

Kai En Tai (Taka Michinoku/Funaki/Dick Togo/Men’s Teioh) vs. Rey Mysterio/Juventud Guerrera/Psicosis/Chris Jericho

Analysis: WCW was great at getting their cards started right, featuring high flying action from a collection of great Mexican luchadors who ultimately reinvented what wrestling looks like in America.

WWE attempted something similar with imported Japanese talent but never fully invested in their light heavyweight division. Kai En Tai, however, could really go when given the opportunity, winning over crowds with the power of their work. Look no further than ECW’s Barely Legal pay-per-view in 1997 for an example of them managing to convert a skeptical crowd into believers.

Result: Because this was company versus company, WCW decided to mix babyfaces and heels, attempting to put their best possible team forward. This nearly backfired when Chris Jericho spent most of the match feuding with his own teammates—but eventually, the future
